We are continuing to develop a range of transmission parts for the 4 stroke motorcross engines being converted for use in supermono racing.  Close ratio road race style 5 speed gear clusters have been produced for the CRF450 and YZF450 engines.  Higher ratio primary gears for the CRF engine are now available. 

A 6 speed gearbox for the CRF450 has successfully completed its first meeting, being placed 6th and 4th in the British Supermono Championship rounds at the Snetterton race track on 11th and 12th April.

Dry sump kit

The kit has been designed to overcome two major problems encountered when fitting motorcycle engines into cars or sidecars.

The first one being to prevent the loss of oil pressure caused by the oil not being  available at the oil pressure pump due to the effects of centrifugal force which does not affect a solo motorcycle in the same way.  

The second beneficial effect of  fitting a dry sump is to reduce the overall height of the engine and so ensure minimum ground clearance and lower centre of gravity.  This can be as much as 3" in some cases.    Our dry sump kit comprises of the following parts.

Dry sump pan this is machined from a billet of high tensile aluminium with   a choice of either BSP hydraulic fittings or JIC fittings to connect to oil lines (not supplied).    The oil pressure relief valve is modified and moved from the sump to the customers supplied oil tank.  The modifications are carried out to customers own pressure relief valve and details of the tank installation will be supplied.   Both the sump pan and ignition cover have a gold anodised finish.     A new Oil strainer connector is supplied and fits in the standard position. .

Ignition/scavenge pump drive cover- This replaces the standard Honda ignition cover and incorporates mounting for the ignition and for the gear driven scavenge pump (not supplied).

Filter Body -This is mounted directly to the suction pump and contains a filter for each pump chamber to protect the pump in the event of particles passing down the oil lines.   Can be taken out and cleaned in situ.

Pump drive gear-This is fitted to the customers supplied ignition trigger and drives the scavenge pump.

Oil cooler fittings- Supplied to fit directly to the Blackbird engine replacing the standard motorcycle fittings, made from high tensile aluminium with - 6 JIC connectors.

Oil scavenge pump -The scavenge pumps is purchased from Pace Products, Homefield Road, Haverhill, Suffolk, CB9 8QP - Tel: 01440 760960.   They offer a fitting service for their pump to our cover and filter body.   Pace Products also manufacture oil tanks suitable for use with our dry sump kit.
